The event at Juniors Frascati, Apr 2009
During our stay at Wernersville, on Saturday afternoon our group of former Jesuits had an outing at the Junior’s Frascati. This rustic site is located at the far corner of the Jesuit Center’s property about as far from the monastery as you can get and still remain on the property. Back in the day when Wernersville was still known as “The Novitiate of St Issac Jogues” this facility was used as an R&R site for both Novices and Juniors, but Juniors most often. The Novices had their own place, a log cabin that dated from colonial times which unfortunately burned to the ground. It was located where one of the parking lots is now. In the vicinity were several other funky sites notably an 8 room 2 story house known as “Brossman’s”, and a skating rink used in the winter. I have no idea who Brossman was but the rumor is that the first Jesuits on the site lived there while the novitiate was being built.
The first picture just below is of a reservoir located at State Hill, a few miles away. If it were not on the property, it should have been. The other photographs are a sampling of attendees at the Frascati event.
These pictures were shot with an older Canon EOS650 35mm film camera with Auto-focus and a Zoom Lens. The negatives were digitized by the camera shop that did the development.
